Gustavo Flores is a Nicaraguan actor known for the character of "José Roberto" (JR) in the Nicaraguan TV series Contracorriente (2011). He started acting when he was 12 in the Children's programming for the Nicaraguan TV system (SSTV) during the 80's. When He was 13 received a full scholarship to study High School in Cuba and he spent the next 13 years in that country up to he finished College. In Cuba he worked as a background actor in some Cuban feature films while studying Law at Universidad de La Habana. In 1998 He went back to Nicaragua and worked as a lawyer and legal advisor for many companies, cooperatives and non profit organizations for the next 13 years. In 2007 he received and email for an open casting at Puntos de Encuentro Foundation, a feminist NGO focused in multimedia production and gender equality education. He then became part of the creative and script writers team until he was given the part of José Roberto (JR) in the cast of Contracorriente. After 5 years the show was completed and he moved to Los Angeles in 2012 to pursuit an acting career. Since 2017 he lives in Brooklyn NY and keeps working in many production projects.
